[one eye barely opens to see what's happening; his fingers brush against Lan Wangji's skin, petting, coaxing]

After.

[he's being held against Lan Wangji's chest, supporting arms under his legs and back, and carried to the bathtub; Lan Wangji perches on the wide edge and starts running the hot water, letting it fill before he lowers Wei Wuxian into it]

[comes more awake when he sinks into the bath; plenty comfortable, but catches Lan Wangji's hand before he can pull away]

If you're not resting yet, then join me. You're just as much of a mess as I am.

[oh...

hums consent and settles into the tub on the other side, their legs a bit crowded together; it's bigger than the ones where they come from, certainly big enough for two]

[he knows where everything is because he was nosy about it the other day; leans over, warm water sloshing around as he grabs some shampoos]

Turn around and let me wash your hair.

[he keeps getting that soft faintly startled look out of him; strange.

he obeys easily, though.]

[tucks those expressions away into his admittedly faulty memory. if Lan Wangji makes those kinds of faces over being a little spoiled, then the only thing to do is spoil him more often.

the whole process is languid and gentle; he tips Lan Wangji's head back to wet his hair before massaging shampoo into his scalp. there is the occasional extra scratch from his claws, but even that is soft and filled with care]

[he tips his head back into Wei Wuxian's hands, easy and trusting; their necklaces are probably laid at the tubside since we keep forgetting they exist oops. his eyes are closed. his breathing's quiet. the long wet spill of his hair into the water mostly hides his scars.]

[the scars are hidden, but not forgotten. once he rinses the suds out of his hair he pulls it all to one side over his shoulder, sleek and clean, and tips Lan Wangji's head forward next. Lan Wangji can hear the water stir and feel the heat of his body as Wei Wuxian pulls closer. it's not an overly large tub to begin with, and the movement has Lan Wangji tucked onto Wei Wuxian's lap.

with his back exposed, Wei Wuxian leans in and presses a kiss to the parts of the scars that sit just below his shoulders, in addition to providing some light kisses along the more recent scratches mixed in along his upper back. his nose draws a line up the back of Lan Wangji's pale neck before he reaches for a washcloth and starts washing his back]

[he can't see Lan Wangji's face in this position -- he is so warm and so still and moves however Wei Wuxian wants him to -- but pressed so close, he can perhaps feel the way his breath hitches, again and again.

it's not arousal this time, though it could easily be mistaken for it.]

[doesn't pause at all during this, but does frown to himself, a tiny thing that makes his brow wrinkle as he brings the washcloth up and down his back. it sounds like arousal to his ear at first, which only serves to make his face heat up; just what kind of recovery rate does Lan Wangji have? as time goes on he's less sure of that assessment, and yet can't think of an alternative. it makes him impatient to see his face, to look into his inscrutable eyes and try to puzzle out what he's thinking.

because he can--because he wants to, because it's deliciously right there for him, because he can't help himself--he bites the soft skin at the base of his neck with sharp, stinging teeth, before he kisses over it.]

Turn around so I can watch your front.

[that does send a very definite shudder down Lan Wangji's spine. what the fuck, Wei Wuxian.

he's not actually, visibly crying when he turns, though his eyes are a little reddened; that could as easily be from the water running down his face from his hair, though]

[his name is stuck in his throat, to the point that he can't bring himself to say any other one he has and it comes out as a garbled noise of distress. he presses one hand over the bite and uses the other to wipe the wetness from his face. whether it's water or tears doesn't change the fact that Lan Wangji looks upset]

--It didn't hurt, did it? I won't do it again, just say you don't like it and that's enough.

[ah; no.

shakes his head, temporarily mute altogether, and shifts them just enough that he can lean forward and rest his forehead on Wei Wuxian's shoulder]

[this feels beyond him far, far more than the sex did; after a horrified moment where he confirms to himself that he isn't crying from just a bite, he wraps his arms around him]

Then...what did I do wrong?
